Welcome

I designed this site to provide helpful tips and recommendations for selling and promoting items on Poshmark and Mercari! I am a #boymom trying to put my sons through school, so this is why I initially started on Poshmark. I started Poshmark from the advice of a good friend who mentioned she started a Poshmark storefront in December 2021. I will dive into some tips and tricks that I have used on both sites! I receive ad sponsorship when you click on the links! This website is divided into two sections: (1) Getting Started & (2) Staying Committed. I will add content as time permits, but hopefully this site will help you in your seller’s journey!

Poshmark

Check out my Poshmark closet: www.poshmark.com/closet/theboysmomzee

I started this closet in May 2022 and I am already a Poshmark Ambassador (Level I). I will post tips that I used to become a Poshmark Ambassador by June 2022!

Mercari

My closet on Mercari is https://www.mercari.com/u/984408419/. I started this closet on June 27, 2022. Mercari does not have tiered ambassador status like Poshmark does; however, there are benefits while I sell on Mercari!

Getting Started: Fees

⭐️Selling Fees

Believe it or not, there are selling fees on Poshmark and Mercari! There are no charges to list your items on either site. However, I have personally found that when I tried to list my high end bags on Mercari, I had to pay a $5 authentication fee that could not be bypassed. I wasn’t too happy with the fee, but I paid it anyway so that I could list it.

After your item sells, Poshmark deducts a fee from the final order price. For sales under $15, the fee is a flat rate of $2.95. For sales above $15, the fee is 20% and you (the seller) keeps 80%.

After your item sells, Mercari charges a minimum fee of 10% of the item price for a completed sale. This fee is charged to the seller. In addition, Mercari charges sellers a market competitive rate of 2.9% plus $0.30 for each payment received from the buyer.

Between the two platforms, Mercari has lower selling fees compared to Poshmark.

⭐️Shipping Fees

Poshmark provides a flat rate of $7.67 for USPS Priority Mail on all orders up to 5 pounds. This shipping fee is paid for by the buyer. However, you (the seller) can pay a portion of the shipping to entice a buyer, but I will cover that later. Sellers should use the priority mail boxes that are provided free of charge through the post office.

If your item is more than 5 pounds, the seller pays the additional postage fee.

On the other hand, Mercari offers sellers multiple shipping companies (USPS, UPS and FedEx) to choose from. Sellers must know the weight of the package (and sometimes the dimensions of the box) before listing an item. Buyers pay the shipping charge; however, like Poshmark, sellers can cover the shipping charge to entice a buyer. Sellers are responsible for providing boxes the buyers’ orders.

Between the two platforms, Poshmark is more flexible and convenient when it comes to shipping.
